Micron Technology Selects Palantir Built Athinia™ Data Analytics Platform To Manage Data

Micron Technologies, global leader in innovative memory and storage solutions, has selected Athinia™ for it's data analytics solutions.
From the PR,
"Today, Athinia™ announced that Micron Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: MU), a global leader in innovative memory and storage solutions, plans to use the Athinia™ data analytics platform to create a pioneering data collaboration ecosystem that will help lead a continued journey of digital transformation with Micron's critical suppliers. Athinia™'s state-of-the-art AI-driven quality control methodology will be able to further improve process and device yield, reduce costs and accelerate time to value generation using select data and insights from Micron's supply chain."
Athinia came form a joint collaboration between Palantir and Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany - launched in December 2021.
The goal of the platform was as follows,
"Athinia will bring semiconductor manufacturers and materials suppliers together to share, aggregate, and analyze data to unlock efficiencies. The platform will also enable industry actors to understand on a deeper level the interaction between materials and processes at semiconductor fabrication plants.
"The semiconductor industry is facing unprecedented disruption. This has created a critical need for a secure data collaboration platform that can provide the transparency and data intelligence companies need to solve challenges such as chip shortages and supply chain issues," said Kai Beckmann, Member of the Executive Board of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, and CEO Electronics. "Partnering with Palantir, we've combined our collective expertise in materials science, data analytics and security to increase our customers' efficiencies and time to innovation."
From today's PR:
Using Athinia™'s platform, Micron's suppliers will be able to share their process and manufacturing data as well as key parameters, offering secure collaboration on a much larger population of critical data analytics. Micron and its suppliers can expect to see improvements in yields, shortened qualification times and enhanced quality.
A Validation of Palantir's Platform Building
Palantir is in the business of building platforms that entire industries can use. The multifaceted use of their software extends from energy, supply chain, healthcare, etc.
Palantir has launched numerous partnerships with other companies over the past 8 months to launch similar "platform" type of models in which Palantir would provide some unique technology at the intersection of what the other company could provide to create an innovative solution.
For example, in Palantir's partnership with Trafigura, they will both be working together to effectively measure carbon dioxide emissions because of Palantir's software working with the vast amount of data Trafigura (one of the world's leading independent commodity trading and logistics houses) has on carbon dioxide emissions within supply chains.
Athinia was a specific platform launched to help with the organization and logistics around semiconductors, which as per recent chip shortages, are now more important than ever.
Alex Karp, CEO of Palantir said:
"The production and delivery of semiconductors is absolutely vital to our collective welfare and security," said Alexander C. Karp, co-founder and chief executive officer of Palantir Technologies Inc. "We are committed to ensuring that Micron and Athinia™ have the software they need to address the supply chain challenges involved in the distribution of one of the world's most essential and important products."
The more partnerships Palantir is able to launch, the more use cases for their platform that will work across industries further legitimizing their software around the world - especially for the most critical use cases.
